The Zen of Buaing \(-_-)/
Numerous research have shown similarity between peacock and men (pun intented), in the stage of courtship. The dance ritual of the peacock closely resemble that of man.
Peacocks are noted to gather every wednesday in a secret spot of the forest unknown to other animals. In that safe spot they are free to mate, mix around and basically have fun. They usually comes in couples or in specific groups of male and female exclusively.
The male peacock will try to look like it don't care yet at the same time try to look around for mating targets. That explains the blur chicken-like head jerking movments. The females are always laughin cause this way they look better and at the same time they couldn't control it when they saw how funny the male looks. Females are observed to try to look good while they hug together and move in a weird manner to protect themself from getting shot in case of hunters appearing. The male termed this "body dancing" in a mocking manner to their paranoia.
When a male peacock spots its target from a female group, it will start to smile excessively and continue to look at the female from different angles, which means more blur chicken-like head jerking movments. The female, if interested will smile back. Note the difference. If the female laugh, it means " u looks stupid". If the female smiles, it means " u looks stupid, but I dun mind".
When the chance occur, the male peacock will squeeze throught the crowd (its a small spot only, the larger spot are for mindless peacock who all like to do same movement at the same time) towards the female.
The male will spread his tail at this moment. Scientist used to think that they are displaying their feathers to attract females but they are wrong. Attractive peacocks have mates already and therefore do not come to this spot. The reason for it to spread its tail is to increase its surface area for what is known as "buaing". This is first noted by the researcher Comeand Bua, who is also known for his spider-like hair, thus the term buaing.
When buaing, the male will try to hug the female at its belly and take note if she is able to give birth and if not , will she fetch a high price if she is sold. The female will rub her hip to the male's hip to check if it live up to the species name "peacock".
While checking out each other, they will try to converse so as to distract the other. Common coversation goes like this...
m: oh, i like your feathers
f: hehe, do you come here often?
m: yeah, but its the first time i saw such a beautiful chick
f:where?
m:hehe (takes note that target is stupid) u lor
f:hehe
If ran out of topic ,both will laugh continuously.
When taken to a higher level, peacocks are found to mate on the spot. Some will choose to exchange farm numbers and keep in contact. Female are noted to leave earlier so as not to reveal their look when the sun rises.
Research have show that in recent years, the new genration of peacocks do not take this age old tradition seriously and just try to mix in to have fun. The forest committee have thus limit an age group of 18 weeks old and above only.
In conclusion, we can note the similariy between peacocks and man's way of courtship. Building more of this "safe spot" will help to increase population, therefore solving more social problems.
Zouk anyone? HAHA ^___^
